Fluoride varnish can play a major role in preventive treatment, but bad flavours, unsavory textures, uncomfortable thicknesses, and the strange colours of many topical fluoride varnishes have given countless patients not-so-pleasant experiences. Some patients (and clinicians) even miss out on its many benefits because they believe it is only meant for children, forgetting that fluoride varnish is a great preventive treatment for adults as well.
